Update On Tri-City Regional School

Posted on September 27, 2017

As we all have witnessed over the past several weeks the country has experienced unprecedented weather events that have impacted many states, localities and families.  As public safety first responders, our first priority is to be ready to respond to those calls for service from both our local citizens as well as those in need across America.

Due to the number of Virginia’s first responders that have been deployed to support Federal and EMAC missions both in Texas and those areas that are effected by Hurricane Irma and those still on the roster for the potential deployment, VDFP has worked with the host locality and we have made the decision to postpone the 8th Annual Tri-City Regional School scheduled for September 16th-18th, 2017.   The agency and locality have rescheduled the school to be delivered on December 9th-11th, 2017.

Those participants that registered for a program other than the Surface Water Level I & II will be given first priority to keep their seat in the class when it is offered in December 9th-11th.  If they are not able to attend the program that weekend then the locality will work to refund the fee paid for the program to the individual or organization.  The Surface Water program will be rescheduled for the March or May timeframe and will be held as a stand-alone event.  Those registered students that have paid for the Surface Water program will receive a refund over the coming week or so.

The host locality is going to update the brochure with some additional classes and redistribute the brochure with the class offerings on both the agency Fire Service Record Management System (FSTRS) as well as through other social media opportunities.

In closing, we would ask for your understanding for this delay and keep those affected in your prayers as we assist them in our response and recovery efforts.  We will continue to work with the host department to ensure those that attend have a great training weekend.

Namozine Fire And EMS Open House And 60th Anniversary

Posted on September 27, 2017

The Namozine Volunteer Fire and EMS Department, Inc. and its members are going to celebrate their 60th Anniversary on October 8, 2017 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the fire station located at 3913 Pelham Avenue, North Dinwiddie, Va.  In addition, the department will kick off the week long National Fire Protection Association Fire Prevention Week being held October 8 – 14, 2017.

Since 1957 when the department was formed by several dedicated citizens there have been many changes that have occurred.  These changes have allowed the organization to grow from just a fire department to a full service organization.  The one think that has not changed is the dedication and commitment of the men and women who have volunteered their time to serve the citizens and visitors of Dinwiddie County.

We invite you to come out and support those that give freely to those in need.  The station has planned activities for all ages, the opportunity to look at the equipment used to deliver services as well as interact with the various agencies that we partner with on a daily basis.

In response to the recent natural events, we would like to thank everyone that has help support the first responders in their effort to provide needed responses throughout the Country.  This event would be a great way to thanks those that have been given freely to those in need.  We look forward to seeing everyone on the 8th!
