07/23/13 Commercial Fire

Posted on July 25, 2013

At 1903 hours (in the middle of cooking dinner, of course…) a commercial structural assignment was toned for the steel plant. Companies 4,2, and 1 were dispatched. Upon arrival, Engine 4 established a master stream on the "A" side for a defensive attack- no need to risk anything to put out what is essentially a trash pile from recycled automobiles. Engine 1 made a defensive attack on the "C" side. Due to a plentiful water supply, all other units were returned to service. The fire which was reportedly visible from over 5 miles away was marked under control after about 60,000 gallons of water were used. The pictures came from various sources including Engine 4's dash camera which shows the column of smoke prior to arrival.
