You never really know for certain what you will find when you arrive on scene. Words cannot easily explain the situation on Ferndale Circle on Wednesday. So I will refer you to the picture and simply say that nobody was hurt.

Overturned Truck 02/08/11

Posted on February 10, 2011

Shortly before 4 PM on 02/08/11 a truck hauling scrap metal overturned onto Route 1 after exiting Interstate 85. The incident involved a passing vehicle that had to avoid the trailer’s contents as they spilled. Fortunately, nobody was injured but the road had to be closed for several hours as the truck was righted and the debris was removed.

The response was familiar to arriving crews due to a near identical incident in the same location last year.

Here are several images from the incident, including some of Engine 4 set against a setting sun. If you have to be out in the cold for three hours after securing the scene you may as well enjoy the scenery.

Firefighter II Live Fire Training

Posted on February 22, 2011

On Sunday, February 20th, the 2011 Firefighter II students were able to train using one of the State's new live fire burn trailer. This was an interesting change to a traditional burn building and added some new challenges that these students have not had an opportunity to see in previous training events.

Some students were challenged by some of the training dummies. Well, those folks are going to love their upcoming Mayday class.

Special thanks to our EMS folks who monitored the class and sat down those who were working beyond their bodies' limitations.
